Grassroots Campaigns
-
You've been looking for a way to get involved. This is it! Legislative and Political Action Team members are MTA members who work by day as education support professionals, teachers, faculty, support and professional staff. LPAT members use their voices — and their expertise from the front lines of public education — to engage colleagues, fellow association members, neighbors, friends and family in influencing legislators and other elected and appointed officials.

BE HEARD! ADVOCATE FOR PUBLIC EDUCATION
Legislative and Political Action Team members advocate for issues that matter to you and your students — high-stakes testing, funding and the future of charter schools, to name a few. Legislative and Political Action Teams are overseen by Senate district coordinators.

Municipal Elections and Overrides
Building member and community engagement to win more for public education
MTA affiliates can seek support from Grassroots staff on local elections.
What we need to get started:
- Key campaign dates.
- Insight to local capacity to engage members in voter outreach.
- A campaign message, talking points or information that can be used for mailers, emails, etc.
- Information on group, coalition, or campaign outside of the local managing the election.
Types of campaigns:
- Overrides, debt exclusions and town meetings,
- Mayoral, city council, school committee and select board races.
